WoodPoint for Android is an App that accesses the WoodPoint database. You can download the App at no cost from the Android Market. A subscription to the WoodPoint service is required to access the data.
Once you launch the WoodPoint App, just click the “Sign In” button to log in to the database.
If you are not a subscriber to the service, click the “Join” button to register for a WoodPoint account.
The Main Menu allows you to easily navigate to any section of WoodPoint. Clicking on the logo on the upper left on any page will send you back to this screen. All menus are accessible from this page.
“Locations” lists states in the U.S. and Canadian provinces
“Search” lets you search by company name
“Nearby” displays plants within 5 miles of your current location
“Favorites” lets you create your own list of plant locations for easy access
“History” gives you record of what actions you’ve taken in the WoodPoint database
Quickly locate any company in WoodPoint by using one of the following menu buttons:
1. Locations – browse by specific location such as city and state
2. Search – search by company name
3. Nearby – find companies close to your current location
Locations
To find a company in a specific location, “Locations” gives you a list of U.S. states and Canadian provinces.
Choose a state or province to see a list of cities for the selected state or province. Go back one page by simply clicking the “Back” button.
Choose a city to display all companies within that city.
Once a specific company is selected, the company screen displays detailed data from the WoodPoint database including: company name, address, employee size range, type of company, and companies nearby. You can also view the company on a map, retrieve driving directions, call the company, select as a favorite or flag the company for future reference.
Search
The “Search” menu lets you search by company name. Type in a complete or partial company name and WoodPoint returns the top 50 most relevant companies sorted by name. Choosing a specific company directs the user to the company screen to display detailed company data.
Nearby
The “Nearby” menu uses the power of GPS to list companies within five miles of your current location. Click on a specific company for full information, or click the globe button on the upper right to open the Nearby Map.
The Nearby Map lists all companies within a five-mile radius of your current location. You can click on any pin to view the name of the company. You can also click on the name of the company in the upper left to view that company’s information.
Easily switch between map and satellite view. If your phone has orientation capabilities, you can flip the phone to landscape on virtually every screen to display the Nearby Map.
WoodPoint can even give driving directions to the nearby company you've just discovered.
WoodPoint has other convenient features as well. Any company selected as a favorite will appear in the “Favorites” menu accessible from the main menu screen. And “History” keeps track of all your major actions in WoodPoint, allowing you to easily retrace your steps. The “Account” menu lets you check your current subscription status at any time.
